Built on the site of the medieval castle, this 17th century ducal palace was transformed into Nottingham Castle Museum and Art Gallery in 1878.
Following our successful HLF bid Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery will very soon begin a process of refurbishment which will transform Nottingham Castle into a World class visitor destination. The redevelopment works will mean that the current education programme of facilitated sessions on the Castle site will be suspended from September 2017, although many of the site’s most popular sessions will be offered at other Nottingham City Museums sites, including Wollaton Hall, from January 2018 (these sessions are marked * below, please ask for details)
From September 2017 until March 2018 the Castle will remain open to the general public and teacher led school groups will still be able to visit. Please be aware that in this period archaeological works and other site preparations, possibly involving vehicle movement, will be happening on site and we will not necessarily be able to guarantee lunch spaces for teacher led groups.
Facilitated and teacher led sessions can be booked through our Schools Programmes Assistant on 0115 8761420 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
