KS1 Science: Living Things
Identify and name a variety of common animals.
Say which part of the body is associated with which sense.
Using their senses to compare different textures, sounds and smells.
We use our senses to discover the world around us, so let’s take part in sensory games and fun activities to find out what they are and how they work.
Some animals have exceptional senses that are much better than ours, so we investigate handling specimens including fox, owl and rabbit to illustrate this, introducing concepts of predator and prey.
Finally we explore an exciting Sensational Senses Trail in the galleries.
They children split into two groups – one to explore some activities which use our senses and the other to do a teacher led sensory treasure hunt in the Natural History Museum, before swapping over.
