KS2 Teeth. Skeletons. Classify living things.
Why do we need skeletons? Do all creatures have skeletons?
We investigate how skeletons support our bodies and protect our vital organs. We learn the names of some of our most important bones, see them in X ray pictures and collect fascinating facts about their shapes and properties.
We compare them with bones from other animal specimens in our handling collection and take the “bone detectives” challenge, identifying and sketching interesting bones from different species.
We visit the natural history galleries to find creatures with external skeletons, fossil dinosaur bones and amazing snake and chimpanzee skeletons.
