lluminate are a mix of 15-24 year old’s who work on unique and innovative projects across Nottingham Museums, to make them more accessible and interesting to the wider community. The group enables young people from across the city to gain experience in marketing, events and research, as well as taking part in exciting ‘behind the scenes’ opportunities alongside creative professionals and museum staff.
The group always welcomes new members to have fun and be creative with us, we meet weekly every Wednesday 4.00-5.30 pm in the cosy confines of Brewhouse yard meeting room, munching on Jaffa Cakes! No experience necessary, but an interest in creativity, the arts and/or museum exhibitions/history is welcomed. Must be aged between 15 and 24.

Find out how to apply....
We require anyone who wishes to volunteer to complete an application form. We regret that due to the number of applications we receive we are not able to accept them all. Our ability to offer a placement, at your preferred area or museum site can be affected by the time of year or the type of projects which may be running at any one time.
An application form can be found here: NCMG Volunteer Application Form
All applicants are required to attend a one to one interview with a volunteer coordinator, to learn more about Nottingham Museums, our values, policies, to talk further about the role you have applied to do, and as a chance for you to ask any questions. It is also an opportunity for us to get you know better and ensure you are placed in the role best suited to your skills and interests.
If you are under the age of 18 your parent will need to accompany you to the meeting as there is little bit of additional paperwork to complete.
All volunteers will receive an general induction to NCMG and to their specific site or role. Induction is designed as a friendly welcome and introduction to the site and area you will be volunteering at and will provide you with a clear idea of what to expect in your first days and weeks. It will also help you understand how you will be contributing to the museum service.
